POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Seasonal Public Works Maintenance Worker Temporary Seasonal Part Time Position

Wage: $12.00 - $15.00/Hour DOQ, No Benefits, Open Until Filled

 

SUMMARY: A temporary seasonal part time. The position, under the direct supervision of the Public Works Director, is responsible for maintenance and operations of the City’s public works, (parks, streets, water, sewer, and solid waste).

 

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY: Performs a variety of public works maintenance activities including, but not limited to: mowing, pruning, weeding, painting, brush cutting, and assisting maintenance personnel as needed. Assists in maintenance of City Public Works facilities, including janitorial and minor repair activities as directed. This position will assist in public works repair and replacement projects in water and sewer. This position is expected to operate and perform general maintenance of a variety of equipment, including but not limited to: mowers, weed trimmers, spray painting equipment and other light equipment and machinery as well as hand and power tools used in maintaining city facilities. Other duties as assigned.

 

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: Education and Training: High School diploma or GED. Valid Washington drivers license with a good driving record. Certified in First Aid/CPR, desirable.

 

Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of materials, equipment, and maintenance methods. Knowledge and ability to practice on the job safety practices which will minimize municipal liability. Ability to establish & maintain effective working relationships with Public Works personnel, other City department personnel, property owners & the public. Ability to operate power lawn equipment. Ability to receive and follow written & oral instructions.

 

Physical Demands: Physical strength and ability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor for extended periods in both indoor and outdoor environments, some exposure to inclement weather, dust and noise. Person will be required to lift 60 lbs.
